Get Involved with Island Beach State Park
The Friends of Island Beach State Park is an active support group for the park and we are always looking for new talent and fresh ideas. The group was started in 1996 to help in securing funding and to support the growth of interpretive programs at the park. The Friends also work to enhance recreational activities, special events, educational programs, and encourage protection of the ecosystem. We help to make any visit to this unique, natural wonder of a state park an experience you will remember.
Members of the Friends, many of them park volunteers, also participate in many programs and activities at the park. This includes the Island Beach State Park Beach Plum Festival, Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament, Becoming an Outdoor Woman, Surf Fishing Program, Barnegat Bay Festival, National Trails Day, Surf Fishing at the Beach, Kayak Tours, Nature Hikes, Interpretive Center Staff, and other programs.
