The Barrier Island Classic JR. Tournament will return to IBSP on Monday, August 26th. Date is subject to change based on waves and weather. The no wave days are scheduled for the remainder of the week. The boys' division will have two categories (<12 and 12-17). The girls division will have one category for all ages <17.
Be part of a new tradition of surfing in Jersey. The Barrier Island Class PRO will be Saturday, September 21st. The no wave day will be Sunday, September 22nd. This contest is for any surfer 18 years of age or older. There will be a long board division and a short board division.
Ring in the New Year at beautiful Island Beach State Park! Join the Friends of IBSP for a scenic walk down the beach. Walk is approximately 1 mile out and back, but feel free to turn back at anytime. Winter is a great time to experience the natural beauty of the IBSP! Bonfire and smores to follow, weather permitting. Register here.
Join us in celebrating National Trails Day at IBSP on Saturday, June 5th from 2-4 pm! We will be conducting trail maintenance and litter patrols on beach access trails A-15 to A-21 and installing new Keep Off The Dunes signs. We will meet at the IBSP Nature Center to organize work parties for the various trails. Event will be held rain or shine. Please bring shovels, pruning shears, bow saws, work gloves, drinking water, etc. This event is only open to members of FOIBSP.
Celebrate "International Observe the Moon Night" at IBSP with Members of ASTRA (The Astronomical Society of the Toms River Area) and people around the world! Enjoy close up views of our nearest neighbor through ASTRA’s high powered telescopes, hear fascinating Astronomical stories and pick up lots of free handouts about the night sky! In addition, ASTRA volunteers love to show off Saturn, Jupiter and many other interesting sites in the night sky.

Join us for our Annual Fall Meeting and learn about all of the great ways to get involved with and support Island Beach State Park! Take a few hours to learn about all of the great things happening in the park this season. We will also be holding the Board Elections. If you are interested in joining our board, please reach out! Volunteer a few hours to help plant beach grass in Island Beach State Park. Please arrive to register at Swimming Area 1 at 9:30am. After registration you will be assigned to a specific part of the park, you most likely need to drive there. Please bring a pole or shovel to dig with. Food and beverages will NOT be available. Join us for a special, members only, evening at the Park. We will be screening the movie Drift and discussing upcoming events at IBSP. "Drift tells the story of Barnegat Bay through the voices and eyes of people who cherish the Bay as a natural, recreational, and economic resource for the local community and all of New Jersey. "
On Thursday, August 4th, the Friends of IBSP will once again be partnering with POAC for their Annual Autism Surf Day. It means so much to the families that we can do this every year and this event wouldn't be a success without amazing volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help with setup, registration, and going into the water with the kids. If you would like to help out, please register here.

Join in the first annual Clean Beach Initiative Fundraiser and Art Show. Local artists will showcase their work outside of Right Coast Surf Shop in Seaside Park from 12 - 6 on August 12th. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of IBSP and help to keep our beaches litter free.
