Join the Beach Buggy Association and the Friends of Island Beach State Park for a day of volunteering, working in the out doors alongside other friendly people.

SAVE THE DATE! June 4, is “Terrapin Release Day” at Island Beach State Park, with Island Beach State Park Staff and Project Terrapin offering programs on turtles along with hatchling releases. This is our third year of the release program.
Our first hatchling release time taking place at 11:00 a.m. at A-21 (canoe/kayak launch) with a program preceding the release at the Nature Center at 10:15 a.m.
Our second release will take place at 12:30 p.m. with a program preceding the release at the Nature Center at 11:30 a.m. Our hatchling release is part of a head start program to help increase terrapin populations within the Sedge Island Marine Conservation Zone. We have seen a decline in the nesting terrapin population within the Conservation Zone over the past 15 years.

The Barnegat Bay Festival is the Barnegat Bay Partnership’s (BBP) signature event, held at a beautiful waterfront location on the first Sunday in June. This day of free family fun reaches out to year-round residents and summer visitors to learn more about the Barnegat Bay, celebrate its resources, and to participate in interactive programs which stress the importance of the ecosystem to our Ocean and Monmouth County communities.
The Friends of Island Beach State Park will be tabling at the event. Stop by our table and say hello!

Come celebrate and explore the new water trails in the Sedge Islands Marine Conservation Zone on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 am at the A-21 launch site in Island Beach State Park. Paddle with NJDEP and Jersey Shore Sea Kayak Association and learn about the important research happening in NJ’s only conservation zone. Please bring your kayak, SUP or canoe.
